A lot of these cloud lamps started popping up on my Pinterest feed a little while ago and I figured they would be perfect for the upcoming season as I’m planning to build a small gingerbread village on this table (if I have the time between workshops!). I wasn’t planning to record anything on how to make these fun cloud lamps but in the end it just happened anyway.
Scroll down to read the description and to watch the video, which is more for inspiration than to actually make them but I hope it makes sense anyway! You can definitely use a regular lamp in these as well, but make sure to use LED and always check so it doesn’t get hot before!
How to make floating Cloud lamps ☁️💡
What you’ll need
-Small rice paper lamps (I used 20 cm in diameter)
-Glue gun (you’ll need LOTS of glue for this)
-Cotton wool (I used around 250g in total for all four, much less than I thought!)
-String lights, battery driven (LED, so they don’t get hot!)
Tear the cotton wool into pieces and glue all over the paper lamp, but leave the top hole open so you can put the lights inside. Add extra pieces of cotton here and there to make it more cloud like, then shape the cotton as needed – you may want to tear some pieces apart a little so the light comes through. It’s a bit tricky to get the pieces to stay and to get the glue in the right places so some patience is needed here. Insert the string light through the top and hang with fishing line from the ceiling to make it float ☁️
